A rich history of music

Ever since the beginning of time, man has done his best to explain the world around him and better adapt to his surroundings. As social beings, we evaluate the world around us by the people around us. Our social nature means that we strive to fit in with the people around us and that in order to be truly happy, we must make those around us happy. One way in which we do this is with art.

Music acts as a way for us to share our experiences collectively with those around us. To share the world in a unique way that takes talent and understanding, while also being subjective in nature. Music does not fit well with everyone, but it is a universal language that when done correctly, speaks to everyone.

A matter of taste

Music is such an important part of how we associate with others and how we derive our entertainment that it is almost inseparable from our humanity. You can go back to any civilization and find that music was part of their way of life. Crafting instruments from whatever materials that they had access to, every civilization found a way to communicate the world around them using song, dance, and instruments.

Music evolves as we do, but it will always be a part of what makes us human. In order to fully understand humanity, we must understand how music affects us and why it is so important to us. Music scholars and normal people alike will agree that music separates us from the beasts.

Worth a thousand words

Something about music promotion that a lot of people don’t understand is the emphasis on visual appeal. Concert promotion is as much about the art as it is about the music. Fliers are a successful way to draw people to your event and a good way to promote a number of great artists around the world. Our festival is one that appreciates all types of art, including the visual, even though our basis is in music.

When people talk to me about this, they are always surprised and ask me whether I am a music promoter or art promoter. To this I usually say, both, in that they are more connected than people think they are. If you look at our site, you will see what I mean. The most successful fliers have promoted some of the best bands we’ve ever hosted, and continues to be a large part of what we do.

The best approach

Is something that encapsulates visual art and music. As a festival promoter, I can say for a fact that the artistic aspect of now only the festival scene itself, but also the artists and entertainers is second to none. Without one, the other suffers greatly and does not resonate as well with crowds. By encompassing both, we are able to appeal to all of the senses and give people exactly what they need.

It is a great task, but combining art with music is something that I have found to be the only way in which to run a successful promotion.

Bringing people together

As a festival coordinator, I spend a lot of time talking to many different people including fans and performers alike. One thing that I have learned from this experience is just how important music and festivals are to the human experience. Music has been a part of virtually every culture since the beginning of time, and has long given us a way to share ideas with one another an the world around us.

Now this is extended even further with festivals, which act as a way for us not only to share these experiences with one another in an intimate setting, but also to enjoy other aspects of humanity at the same time. Music goes along so well with other forms of art, that a festival is the perfect way to have a truly human experience.

Coming together

If you have ever been to a music festival, you probably know of the vibe. The vibe is one of understanding and belonging, and you would be hard pressed to find groups of angry people at a music festival. There is just something about art and the freedom to be yourself that puts people in a good mood and connects them with the rest of humanity. Music has always done this, and festivals are an extension of this.

So the next time you have the chance to go to a music festival or any festival really, jump on the opportunity. It acts as the perfect way to connect with others and experience what it truly means to be human.

Music in culture

Music, it is something that most of us grew up with and something that many of us have carried into their adult life. There is something about music that is universal and something that at the same time makes cultures different. Think about your favorite genre, now think about where that came from. Usually, you can draw a parallel between where the music you like came from and the culture with which it resonates. For example, fans of soul music are oftentimes fans of blues music. The fact that these two genres came from the same cultural demographic is not surprising.

The fact that music is so entwined with culture is something that makes sense historically. Cultures that were close together biologically have a lot of the same shared practices and access to the same instruments, which makes the music that they create somewhat similar. In a way, our music says a lot about our culture.

Breaking it all down

When it comes to music and culture, there is no doubt that the two are closely related. In fact, music scholars have long studied the connection between the two elements of humanity and have found that one almost dictates the other. That is to say, culture plays a large role in how we interpret the world around us, and the topics that we choose to write songs about. Different cultures have different experiences, and we must remember this fact in order to fully understand different cultures. By observing this, we can get a better idea of what makes us human.
